Benedict Phillips

Artist, Benedict Phillips has twenty years of generating public art, lectures, performance, photography, and digital art. His bookwork’s and artist editions have been collected and exhibited at the V&A and can be found in many international collections. Benedict is also co-founder of the international mail art group Field Study est. 1993.

His new bookwork’s include ‘A Benedictionary’ July 2011, the world’s first printed dyslexic translation dictionary with a ‘Lecksick to Dislecksick’ and reverse translation. It includes the 2005 DIV egzam in becoming dyslexic, eleven illustrations, an introductory history, and access to over two and half thousand dyslexic spellings.

Edition of one hundred hard backed signed copies. The cover is embossed with the gold logo of ‘The Agender of the Agresive Dislecksick’.

Benedicts newest book ‘Stone Book’ Feb 2012 charts the landscape of Tuscany, from tree covered hills to the stripped back mines of Carrera, leading to the final image of the manmade mountains of the central cathedral in Pisa. This edition comes with a cube made from a marble slab taken from a mine. Shot using a Ziess Ikon NETTAR fold out 6 by 9 camera from 1949. A set of holiday post cards for the 21st century made the way they used to be.

Edition of thirty folding books, on photo rag, supplied with a ¾ inch cube of Carrara marble.
